Originally from Lake Bluff, IL I moved to CO in 2001 for school, Go Buffs!  Somehow I found myself in medical, dental and aesthetic sales for 20+ years.  I became a parent myself in 2015.  In all my years in sales, I’ve longed to do more meaningful work.  I’ve experienced the ups and downs, goods and uglies of the corporate life and decided it was more important to build women up and restore faith in humanity.  Covid layoffs in 2020, while I was a single mom, finally encouraged me to start taking health care prerequisites, apply to nursing school and become a certified birth doula!  

My beautiful daughter, Colette, was born at Rose Hospital after we discovered a slight tear in my amniotic sac.  I was technically induced with Cervidil and 6 hours later (with a heavenly epidural) she was born!  I did not have a terrible experience, however looking back I wish I had someone by my side, guiding and encouraging me through each contraction and stage.  Helping me to understand what was happening and make better informed decisions.  Even though we’d attended birth classes, my husband still couldn’t do much to comfort me.  I felt unprepared, scared and alone.  Knowing what I know now about birth, I would have made some very different choices about my birth team, setting and preferences.

As an enthusiastic lifelong learner, I believe that knowledge is power!  In our pre-natal visits, we will go over the labor and birthing process, what your options are, and how I can best honor and support your wishes.  How I can best cherish your inner child!  When labor begins, I want you to feel confident, ready and excited!  After all, pregnancy is not a disease and only 6-8% are considered high risk with medical intervention absolutely needed!  I will be by your side through home birth, hospital birth, induced and cesarean births.  I believe in evidence based birth and healthcare.  I will not push my own “agenda”, but will provide resources and conversations around what preferences work best for you and your family!  

I contract with 9th Avenue Doulas,  Colorado Mountain Doulas, DoulaBUDs and my own private clients.  I also volunteer with Colorado Volunteer Doulas, Colorado Doula Project, The Urban Farm and Moms Demand Action!
